Description

Sydney to Hunter Valley
You have to routes to choose from. Go via the Blue Mountains for some superb mountain hikes, charming little towns and Aboriginal cave paintings, glow worms and rock climbing in Wollemi. Take the coastal route (which is quicker) for coastal wilderness hikes in Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park, Brisbane Water National Park and the spectacular coastal walk in the Bouddi National Park/.
Port Stephens and Myall Lakes
Newcastle history, animal parks, beaches. Port Stephens is a tapestry of inlets, beaches and lakes perfect for Stand up Paddleboarding and other watersports. The string of townships are great for wining and dining. Myall Lakes also abounds with water but with more wilderness and camping options because most of it is protected within the Myall Lakes National Park. Camp here for a while to really explore.
Bellingen and Dorrigo National Park
Explore the fertile green valley of Bellingen on one of the scenic drives, swim in the Never Never River, then explore ancient rainforests shrouded in mist and walk beneath towering tree ferns in Dorrigo National Park. Camp in the cute seaside town of Sawtell.
Coffs Harbor and Byron Bay
There is a lot to do in Coffs Harbor from wildlife encounters to tree tops walks over the rainforest and lazing on beaches. In late September and early November the Jacaranda trees are in full bloom in Grafton, which is definitely worth stopping for. Byron Bay is a hippie surf mecca with a lighthouse walk, thriving arts scene, live music, vegetarian food and markets.
Mount Warning and Nimbin
From Byron Bay detour inland to visit the rainbow town of Nimbin, Minyon Falls, climb Mount Warning and extinct volcano for amazing views, go stand up paddleboarding down Cudgen Creek before arriving at the Gold Coast.
