Outback New South Wales (Sydney to Adelaide)

South Coast and Great Ocean Road

Great Ocean Road | Melbourne - Sydney coastal or alpine drive
After the beauty of the Great Ocean Roads (for details see road trip #1 above) continue to hug the coast to Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island (famous for its penguins, koalas and other wildlife), Wilson's Promontory and Gippsland Lakes. From here you have a choice - the mountains, cool climate wines, cute alpine villages and Canberra's world class museums along the Alpine drive, or enjoy miles of pristine coastline much of it protected by national parks rich in wildlife, fresh oysters, good fishing, surfing opportunities, and beach camping.
